Encouragement Quotes: The Pitfall of Grudges

encouragement-quotes-grudgesEncouragement Quotes: To carry a grudge is like being stung to death by one bee.  ~  William H. Walton

This positive quote paints an interesting picture doesn’t it? I simply interpret this inspirational thought to mean you hurt yourself more than the person you are holding a grudge against. It’s like prolonging the pain from a single bee sting that you turn into more pain than necessary.

If you’re anything like me, a grudge lingers – always in the back of your mind. So, ask yourself this question: What benefits do you gain from carrying a grudge?

Well, it depends on your definition of benefits. Personally, all I ever received was prolonged hurt feelings; negative thoughts; an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach when in contact with the target of my grudge, and uneasiness if others were pulled into the situation.

It’s simply not worth it. Even if you never really want to associate with the person again, settle things. It’s one of the best gifts you can give yourself. It’s such a freeing experience that will alleviate a lot of unnecessary grief. If you take nothing else away from this quote, then remember this – the actions you take are for YOU.

So, take the advice from encouragement quotes and free yourself from grudges. You will be much happier for it.
