Inspirational thoughts about Doubt

inspirational-thoughtsInspirational thoughts about doubt. Today I read a quote that reads ‘doubt breeds doubt’ by Franz Grillparzer. I dwelled on what this really means and it made me think of times when doubt creeps into my thoughts. When this happens, if I’m not careful,  that doubt can take on a life of its own. Has this ever happened to you?

Doubt is Like a Snowball Rolling Downhill

For instance, when something is about to change in my life I may think, “What if…..?” Then that “What if” grows into “What if it makes things worse?” then that can turn into “What if it makes things worse and I fail?”  See how doubt can snowball? This is why you really have to be careful when it comes to doubt. If there is any encouragement to be gained, it comes from the fact that most of the things we doubt never happen unless we give in and keep thinking negatively. Have you ever heard the saying, “you get what you think about most?”

It’s true!

Let me give you a little example. When I go shopping at any store I ALWAYS seem to pick the slow line. It’s because I focus so much on trying to avoid the slow line that I’m always drawn to it. This week, I didn’t think about it. I just picked a line and it moved quickly. This is what happens with doubt. When you have it – it fosters more.

Take these inspirational thoughts with you. The next time you doubt something, immediately counter with a positive thought. It’s not easy. I’d be lying if I said I never have doubts, or negative feelings for that matter. We all do. The key is how you respond.  Following is a positive quote that reminds me why its important to counter doubt. It goes:

“If you got it, flaunt it. If you do not, pretend.”  ~  Wally Phillips

Hey, fake it until you make it. It really does work. If we are what we think about then why not train yourself to think for your benefit? Now these are inspirational thoughts!  Remember, the less doubt you have, the better your life.
