Inspirational thoughts from a bad day? Sounds contradictory doesn’t it? If you ever had a bad day then I want to you read the following and then I’ll pose a question for you to think about.
Today, while waiting to get my car serviced a man sat next to me in the waiting room. There was one television playing a kid’s cartoon. I invited the man to change the channel. That’s when he said, “No thanks. It’s probably the best program out there. Everything is crap these days.” He, then, went on to tell me how as a younger man he only had six channels of quality programming and he was happy. Now he has over 80 channels full of junk.
There is Miserable and There is MISERABLE
“Okay,” I thought. Next, the man simply started rambling on about everything miserable in his life. Believe me, everything WAS miserable. He said he loves sports, but we have no good sports teams in our town. I live in Western Pennsylvania the home of the champion Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins.
“Okay,” I thought. Next, the man complained that he didn’t make a decent living. He was pissed off that his kids had to work to help support him. In half an hour, I heard an earful of complaints and grievances. When the man’s car was ready and he went to leave, I called out to him.
“Have A Nice Day!”
Heck, the man sounded like he needed it. But – what did he say to me?
“Yeah….right. I doubt it. Life stinks!”
Do you know – that man is right. He was going to have a miserable day and many more to come. Do you know what I thought? Here was a man who didn’t realize his blessings. Did he realize the number of people who would be happy to have any job? Besides, he couldn’t be that bad off, because he was driving a pretty decent car and could afford to have it serviced. I could think of many people who do not even own a car and fret over how they would get to where they need to go. Also, he must be doing pretty well if he could afford cable with 80 channels. That sounds like more than the basic package to me. I could think of many people who do not have electricity, let alone a television with cable.
Hey, Why Not Set Yourself Up For a Suckier Day!
Here is the point, if you want to have a bad day, you can go right ahead and create it. It’s very easy to do. Go ahead – gripe, complain, whine, and make your day totally SUCK. After all, stuff happens to us all of the time. However, before you go this route, I want you to think about these inspirational thoughts from a positive quote:

Now, here is my question to you – how do you view your day? There was a time in my life when I would have jumped on the band wagon with the man I have deem “grumpy for no good reason.” Now, however, when I left that waiting room, I was grateful to have a car to drive, food on my table, and cable to watch. Life is good and I encourage you to focus on your blessings as well.
