Inspirational Thoughts – Pressing Your Advantage

Are you pressing your life’s advantage? If you’ve watched any sporting event have you ever noticed that the team or individual who wins is the one who capitalizes on their strengths and exploits the opponent’s weaknesses? Now think of the game called ‘your life.’ If you want to win big, then you’ve got to capitalize on your strengths.

Your strengths are the things you’re good at or love. It’s your passion. I don’t know if you caught it, but I said if you want to ‘win big.’ Sure, there are many people who live so-so lives where they experience pockets of success. They ‘settle.’ There are even people who make tons of money and possess many material things, but they are miserable. They ‘settle.’

Chase down your passion like it’s the last bus of the night.  ~ Glade Byron Addams

No – you shouldn’t want either of the above situations. You should want it all – happiness and whatever success means to you. This is why you have to press your life’s advantage. The worse thing you can do is come to the end of your life and experience regret. Regret for the dreams you didn’t pursue and the things you didn’t enjoy. Do not make the mistake of thinking you have all the time in the world. Before you know it ~ the years will fly by. So live your best life!

Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.  ~ Harold Whitman

If you are not currently pressing your advantage then start making your transition plan. Maybe you are currently playing the wrong game (performing a job you hate; studying a course major that doesn’t excite you; in a relationship that brings out the worst in you; or floating in life trying to figure things out), be determined to make a positive life change.

I can teach anybody how to get what they want out of life.  The problem is that I can’t find anybody who can tell me what they want.  ~Mark Twain

If you are not sure what your core strengths and passions are, that’s okay. Try learnmyself.com . This is a totally free Site that provides many different test to help you learn about yourself. The best part is that you do not have to sign up for a thing. The only thing you have to spend is a little time. Time that is worth it if you can gain a little clarity about yourself.

As always, I’d like to end with more inspirational thoughts as follows:

My mother said to me, “If you become a soldier, you’ll be a general; if you become a monk, you’ll end up as the Pope.” Instead, I became a painter and wound up as Picasso.  ~  Pablo Picasso

Now it’s time to paint the life you truly want, so start pressing your advantage.
