Inspirational thoughts – 3 Ways You Lose When You Avoid or Ignore Loss

by Kim on March 13, 2010

When you lose something, how do you deal with it? These inspirational thoughts center on dealing with loss. Loss is never easy, because it usually means unwanted change. It’s often followed by an intense emotional reaction. Yet, loss is an inevitable part of life.

Here’s the interesting thing – we desire to lose the negative things in life, such as weight, debt, and obnoxious people. On the other hand, we do not want to lose those things that we should – a hated job, harmful habits, or an unsatisfying relationship.

Difficult losses center around death, income, or home. There are no easy answers; however, there is always hope, faith, and comfort.  The following inspirational thoughts from the Bible can help:

There is a time for everything,
And a season for every activity under heaven:
A time to be born and a time to die
A time to plant and a time to uproot,
A time to kill and a time to heal,
A time to tear down and a time to build,
A time to weep and a time to laugh,
A time to mourn and a time to dance,
A time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
A time to embrace and a time to refrain,
A time to search and a time to give up,
A time to keep and a time to throw away,
A time to tear and a time to mend,
A time to be silent and a time to speak,
A time to love and a time to hate,
A time for war and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

While it may not seem like it things will get better.

Inspirational thoughts: 3 ways you lose when you avoid or ignore loss:

“When we lose one blessing, another is often most unexpectedly given in its place”  ~  C.S. Lewis

Do not allow yourself to be held hostage in unwanted situations for fear of the unknown. When you do stay in unwanted situations – that hated job, or that unsatisfying relationship, you are missing better things in store for you. You may be missing the opportunity to do work that you love; or, you may miss experiencing the love of your life.

As I see it, you deserve to experience as much happiness and contentment as you can stand. It may take a little planning and a lot of courage, but you’re worth it. These inspirational thoughts say it best: “It’s true that we don’t know what we’ve got until we lose it, but it’s also true that we don’t know what we’ve been missing until it arrives.”  ~  Anonymous

“I have learned that some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet are those who have suffered a traumatic event or loss. I admire them for their strength, but most especially for their life gratitude – a gift often taken for granted by the average person in society.”  ~  Sasha Azevedo

Don’t limit your self beliefs. You have so many examples of people who have overcome great loss to go on to live a happy and fulfilling life. Draw inspirational from them.

“How you think when you lose determines how long it will be until you win.”  ~  G.K. Chesterton

Deal with your loss in a healthy way. Talk about it, react to it, and embrace your emotions. Seek help. Dealing with loss,  no matter what kind, is a healing process that occurs in stages. When you work through your loss, it’s less likely to linger in a destructive way that prevents you from positively living the rest of your life.

I hope these inspirational thoughts gives you much to think about as well as providing a little encouragement. Life’s challenges can bring you down if you let them. The key is to be brave, stand tall, and determine to live as best as you can. I know you can do it.
