I’m sure you’ve heard people say that if you want to change your life then you need to set goals? Then there is the advice to use a “To Do’ list to make sure you use your time wisely to meet your goals.

Well let me throw a twist into things. Your choices and actions are at the center of whether or not you change your life for the better. But….here’s a little secret. Instead of focusing on stuff “to do” how about focusing on “to be?” Meaning…..focus on those quality traits that will help you be stronger and better equipped to deal with the next set of challenges you face.
You see, you’ll always have a better chance of “bouncing back” after adversity or challenges when you are prepared. Here’s an example of what I mean. During one of the toughest times in my life, I felt I was handling it poorly. I was deathly afraid things would never get better; I didn’t have faith in myself; and I had lost confidence in abilities that have always gotten me through.

So what did I do? I wrote a “to be” list. It went like this. I going to be a more courageous, disciplined person who shows courage and patience when dealing with adversity in life. That’s when I envisioned myself as showing these traits. I worked really hard on “being.” I read books, listened to audios, examined my fears, and practiced being a person who was courageous, strong, and patient. I suffered lapses, but I stayed determined.
What is the result? I’m a more positive person who has the battle scars to prove that I can make it through the tough times. So can you!

So where do you start? I want you to think about times when you didn’t like how you handled something. How would you have behaved differently? Think about it. Write down your thoughts. After you come up with your “to be” list. Your next step is to practice being. To be honest, practicing is your best options. Use inspiration to keep you going. Also, use whatever you go through as “trail runs.”
Each time, you will make progress. Then, before you know it….you will be stronger, you will be wiser, you will be better equipped.
