Peace Quotes:  Nothing can bring you peace but yourself.  ~  Ralph Waldo Emerson

Would you like to have a sense of peace and contentment?  It doesn’t matter how crazy things are in your life,  if you want more peace, it’s there for the taking.

I’d like you to picture a hurricane. It swirls around frantically leaving destruction behind. However, did you know that the center of the hurricane is calm? That always fascinated me. How could anything be calm in all that turmoil?  Well, a hurricane reminds me of life’s problems.  Those problems surrounds us and we are at the very center.  We feel pain, hurt, and all of those unpleasant feelings those problems and challenges dish out. Now here’s the question? How do we find that center of calm despite everything else?

In a world filled with causes for worry and anxiety, we need to peace of God standing guard over our hearts and mind.  ~  peace quotes by Jerry W. McCant

You need an anchor. For me, nothing or nobody helps anchor me during troubling times more so than the big guy upstairs. I, unfortunately, learned this lesson the hard way. There is no comparison between the times when I leaned on God to the times when I didn’t.  Now, I pass these hurricane survival lessons to you.

#1. Avoid feeding the hurricane whenever you can:  This means tap into your gut instincts and search for that sense of peace with every word you speak and action you take. If you are doing or saying anything that doesn’t feel right, then you’ll disturb your feeling of peace. The key is to be alert and pay attention to your internal voice. Don’t ignore it. Examples: making a decision or agreeing to something that doesn’t feel right; being asked to stretch the truth by your boss; spending money you know you don’t have; or staying in a bad relationship  because you’d rather not be alone.

Peace Quotes:

  • Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the presence of God no matter what the conflict.  ~  peace quotes by an Anonymous Author.
  • A man’s mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and makes them sure.  ~  Proverbs 16:9

#2 When placed in a situation that robs your peace, take a couple of deep breaths. Simply be still for a few minutes and then pray for guidance, wisdom, and courage. Does this mean you’ll always follow your gut? I’d be laying if I said yes. We all struggle and make choices because we fear the consequences. When this happens – keep praying for God’s guidance. He will help you.

Following is a wise poem about peace. I sincerely hope these inspirational thoughts inspire you to grab your peace:

To be glad of life, because it give you the change to love and to work and to play and to look up at the stars;
to be satisfied with your possessions, but not contented with yourself until you have made the best of them;
to despise nothing in the world except falsehood and meanness, and to fear nothing except cowardice; to be governed by your admirations rather than by your disgust;
to covet nothing that is your neighbor’s except his kindness of heart and gentleness of manners;
to think seldom of your enemies, often of your friends, and every day of Christ;
and to spend as much time as you can, with the body and with spirit, in God’s out-of-door…..these are little guideposts on the footpath to peace.

~  Henry Van Dyke
