Self Esteem Building: Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world. ~ Lucille Ball
This series focuses on positive self esteem building activities to help you overcome low self esteem. You’ll notice that we didn’t focus on emotions in general – jealously, envy, etc… This is because everyone experiences those feelings at some point or another. Never forget how you feel is NOT exclusive to your self esteem.
As you read through this series I want you to remember one thing, self esteem building does not have to be hard. It simply takes small steps every day toward becoming more positive in how you view yourself.
What we’ve focused on during the first two series was teaching you how to be kind to yourself again. How you value who you are as a person.
Now, whether you realize this or not – you’re in training. It’s all about your attitude and changing how you see yourself. IT’S A PROCESS. You are in the driver’s set.
Now that you are looking at the good things about yourself, do yourself a favor – STOP NIT-PICKING! As we covered before, every single person has flaws. Quit focusing and highlighting yours.
In the past self esteem building series, we covered pampering yourself. Did you do it? If not, stop! Go back and give yourself some much needed self love. You’re worth it.
Now following are several more self esteem activities for you to try:
- Learn to accept your flaws. For example, I hate my feet. However, they help me walk and I’m grateful for that. So now – I take care of them. They are smooth and soft, but still imperfect. As it stands, I rather have the feet I have then no feet at all!
- Try positive affirmations. This can work wonders to reinforce the good things about you. It’s a self esteem strategy I’ve used for years. You can start with these positive affirmations.
- Every morning, close your eyes and SEE yourself as poised and confident. Visualize how you’d walk, the expression on your face, experience the emotions in your vision. Try this every morning for an entire month. See it enough and you’ll start to believe it.
- Do something you like. What are your interest and hobbies? Do them. You’ll feel happier and good about yourself.
- Be patient and persevere. Changing your self image is not going to happen overnight. You’ll experience progress and setbacks. The key is to keep going! Don’t stop. You are so worth the effort!
So how will you know it’s working?
Trust me, you’ll know. You’ll start to feel happier and a little more confident. You’ll start believing in yourself.
