Building Self Esteem Quote: Someone’s opinion of you does not have to become your reality. ~ Les Brown
Welcome to part 2 of the self esteem building series. The idea is to give you useful bits of information along with an exercise you can do to help you feel better about yourself. You are about to learn about three really great and wonderful ideas to help boost your self image.
Here is what I want you to remember – your self esteem didn’t get where it is overnight. There were a series of events or experiences that brought you to your current state. The really startling fact is that it’s usually the little subtle things that touch your mind everyday that feeds how you feel about yourself.
Here is something else to know – you CAN improve your self esteem. Learn to fight back. You start by learning NOT to be so hard on yourself. So are you ready for 3 great ideas for self esteem building?
- Pay yourself a compliment everyday. Force yourself to. More importantly, say it out loud. I don’t care if you wait until you are alone or if you say something nice about yourself in front of others. This is your chance to start undoing the bad habit of thinking bad about yourself with a few simple positive thoughts about YOU get and every day. Hey, I’ve complimented myself for simply getting up on time. Really, that’s a tough task for some, but I’ve learned to conquer it and I’m quite proud of myself. So I know….you have things to be proud of as well.
- Next, I want you to focus on doing at least one kind or helpful thing for somebody else everyday. The idea is to take some of the self imposed pressure off of yourself. If you train yourself to focus on doing good for others, then those are moments you will NOT focus on what you don’t like about yourself. Best of all, helping others is a great feeling. See….that’s more positivity for you. Know that I’m asking you to do anything major. Smile at people, buy someone a cup of coffee, pay someone a compliment – it all matters.
- Lastly, give yourself a personal makeover. Yes, that’s right. Treat yourself to a new outfit that compliments you, get your hair cut and styled, or luxuriate in a wonder bath. Never forget – outward efforts does impact inner feelings. If you can’t go all out – start small. Paint your toenails a great color or wear your favorite color more often. The point is – you need to make an investment in YOU. By getting a makeover, you are making the best commitment you can make – to your personal mental well-being.
Know what else? Changing your outward appearance DOES impact your inner feelings. So what are you waiting for? Get moving into action and keep along the road to a better you. It’s so exciting, isn’t it?
I love the following self esteem quote by Nathaniel Braden. It goes, “To trust one’s mind and to know that one is worthy of happiness is the essence of self-esteem.”
Lastly, following is a wonderful self esteem Ebook that will not cost you a dime. Take a few minutes to read it. Remember, everything little thing you do helps.
Here’s to happy self esteem building.
